In 2022 there will be two separate FRIDAY FILM classes.
If you truly prefer the F2F class then apply there first.
If you end up on the F2F waitlist you can still join the ONLINE class.
The ONLINE class has 101 places so there will be no problem getting in.
Those on the F2F waitlist will be notified when a position becomes available.
A summary of both classes follows:
0 – Class size is 101.
1 – You need not apologise if you can’t come to the ONLINE session
2 – On the Saturday before the following Friday you will receive an email.
3 – The email will assign the film to watch ONLINE during the week.
4 – The film will be free to watch on either your computer or smart TV.
5 – At 10am on Friday in an ONLINE ZOOM session we will discuss the film.
6 – This ONLINE session lasts one hour, there is no obligation to attend, or apologise.
7 – At 3pm Friday both ONLINE and F2F classes are invited to attend a coffee/chat.
8 – The coffee/chat session will be at the Sandbar Café, and attendance is voluntary.
9 – The Sandbar Café requires you to wear a mask, and have a Vaccination Passport.
The ONLINE class is suited to anyone who prefers the way the class was run in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID restrictions. The ONLINE class is suited to anyone who dislikes travelling and are content to be at home. It also suits those who are frail, or housebound due to sickness or have an obligation to care for other family members. As the class size is essentially unlimited there is no need to participate unless you want to. You could just watch the film at home and do nothing else. Alternatively, you could join the class and never make a comment. It is completely up to you. No roll will be taken as ZOOM generates an attendance record. However if you do wish to make a comment you need to raise your hand by clicking on the ZOOM “Reactions > Raise Hand” button. Comments will then be taken in the order hands were raised.
1 – Class size is 21.
2 – You need to apologise if you can’t come to the F2F session on Friday.
3 – On the Saturday before the following Friday you will receive an email.
4 – The email will tell you the film that will be shown in Room 3 the following Friday.
5 – The email will provide a trailer and other information about the film.
6 – At 1pm on Friday the film will be shown in Room 3 with a discussion afterwards.
7 – This session lasts 2 hours, if you can’t make it you need to register an apology.
8 – At 3pm Friday both F2F and ONLINE classes are invited to attend a coffee/chat.
9 – The coffee/chat session will be at the Sandbar Café, and attendance is voluntary.
The F2F class is suited to anyone who prefers the way the class was run prior to COVID. You need to get yourself to the Mary Kehoe Centre for a 1pm start every Friday. The class size is initially limited to 21, due to COVID social distancing requirements. You will need to wear a mask, be double vaxxed, and be able to prove it with a Vaccination Passport on your mobile phone. If you are absent for 3 sessions or more (barring illness), your place can be taken by someone on the waiting list. If the room limits are raised later in the year then some members on the waitlist will be able to get a place in the F2F class.
